Hydroponics – Getting Started & Next Steps
The Different Types Of Hydroponic Systems And Their Parts
Agriculture is considered to be one of the main activities practised by most people either directly in their farms or indirectly through the processes of processing and manufacturing different agricultural products in different factories Agriculture as an independent sector is taken as a base of many economies with the agricultural products being grown used for either exports or consumption. Most economies that are well-off have the best agricultural bases that meet most needs of different people. Countries can choose to specialize in different types of agriculture depending on some of the resources that are available in that economy. Since different plants grow in different climatic conditions and soils, it is very important to reconsider the type of agricultural practice that you want to carry out. Hydroponics is one of the most trending economic activity that has been adapted and practised by most economies with the aid of technology.
Hydroponics is classified as a subset of hydroculture which is associated with growing plants with the help of mineral nutrient solutions which are situated in water solvents without having to use soil. Terrestrial plants can be planted with the roots being immersed in the solution. The nutrients which are used in hydroponics are from normal nutrients, duck manure or fish waste. Some of the basic parts that you will require in order to build the different hydroponic systems are growing chambers, reservoirs, submersible pump, simple timers, air pumps, delivery systems and grow lights. There are six main types of Hydroponic systems that are commonly used include; water culture, wick system, Aeroponics, drip system, ebb-flow and the Nutrient Film Technique.
Aeroponics is a type of hydroponics where roots of different terrestrial plants are kept in environments that are saturated with drops of different nutrient solutions. This method does not require a substrate and basic entails growing different plants with roots suspended in different growth chambers or in deep air. The main advantage of this process is excellent aeration.
Ebb-flow systems can be rated as some of the most common hydroponic systems that can be done at home. This system can be constructed easily using any construction material that may be laying around. The drip system is the most common type of hydroponic system used by many farmers around the world. This is a very easy concept which requires very few parts yet it is effective and very versatile. In this system, you will be required to drip different nutrient solutions on plant roots with an aim of keeping them moist.
Hydroponics is a good agricultural practice used by different farmers in different economies. It is one of the most widely spread type of agriculture that basically uses different mineral nutrient solutions that emanate from water solutions.
